Clubs & Activities

Drum and Dance, led by Dr. Corley, Ms. Ratzel and Ms. McGhee with the help of an occasional staff member who plays along, is open to all third, fourth, and fifth graders. We meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:15-7:40. The students play full-size snare drums, toms, trios, bass drums, and cymbals. We march in the Bluffton High School Homecoming Parade sometimes and the Bluffton Christmas Parade. We also play for programs and other events. When we come to attention, the team is asked, “Can we do this?” their reply is, “We can do anything!” 
 

Beginning Dance is an opportunity for 2nd grade students who enjoy dance to study technique and learn choreography. We will meet on Wednesday mornings from 7:20-7:40 and focus on ballet, tap, and jazz styles. This is a year-long commitment and dancers will be expected to attend all rehearsals unless otherwise excused. This will allow us to prepare for two performances throughout the school year. 

Dance Ensemble I is an opportunity for 3^rd grade students who enjoy dance to study technique and learn choreography. We will meet on Mondays from 2:45-3:45 and focus on ballet, modern, and jazz styles. This is a year-long commitment and dancers will be expected to attend all rehearsals unless otherwise excused. This will allow us to prepare for two performances throughout the school year.

This will allow us to prepare for two performances throughout the school year. 

We have an after-school opportunity to learn instrumental music that is being provided by the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra.  You can choose to play either the violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet, or trombone.  These lessons will take place after school in the music room from 3:00-3:45. Friday lessons will be 3rd-grade beginning violins. Lessons will be taught by Nathan Kooi, RCES’s music teacher, a certified and experienced instrumental music teacher. 
 

Foxes Sing is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students on Mondays from 7:15-8:45.
 

Members of the News Crew will help write and record content for the morning news.  Participants will have the opportunity to develop material for the broadcast and learn to be both in front of and behind the camera.

News crew is open to 4th and 5th graders.  We will meet in the mornings on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7:20-7:40.

The running club is for 4th and 5th graders.  They meet Wednesday afternoons from 2:45-3:45.

Yearbook club is a place for students that enjoy capturing moments to last a lifetime! In yearbook club we will not only design the yearbook as a team, but we learn photography skills. Our club looks into the science, math, and creativity of photography to sharpen our picture taking abilities. This club was created for students who love design, have an eye for trends, and are dedicated learners. Yearbooks are meaningful keepsakes, so together we will work to make something beautiful each and every year!

Our meetings are on Thursdays until 3:45pm. Please be prompt and sure your student can attend every Thursday.  

Foxes First Tee is a golf club at Red Cedar run by Mr. Bausher and Mr. C O’Hara. It is a club for all 3^rd through 5^th graders. The First Tee golf club focuses on incorporating positive values and character traits while teaching the game of golf. All members need to be able to follow directions and reflect on their own character traits at home, in the classroom, and playing with friends. An application needs to be filled out and returned to either Mr. Bausher or Mr. C.O’Hara. Fifth graders will have priority in joining the club, since it is their last year, then fourth graders, and then finally third graders will be selected if there are still openings.

Foxes First Tee es un club de golf en Red Cedar dirigido por el Sr. Bausher y el Sr. C O’Hara. Es un club para todos los de 3^ro a 5^to grados.  El club de golf “The First Tee” se concentra en incorporar valores positivos y rasgos del carácter al enseñar el juego de golf.  Todos los miembros deben poder seguir instrucciones y reflexionar sobre sus propios rasgos de carácter en casa, en el salón de clases y jugando con amigos. Deben llenar una aplicación y entregarla ya sea al Sr. Bausher o al Sr. C.O’Hara. Estudiantes de quinto grado tendrán prioridad en unirse al club, ya que este es su ultimo año, luego cuarto grado, y finalmente tercer grado serán seleccionados si aún hay lugares.
