Justin Vaughn, Principal

Mr. Vaughn has been a dedicated educator in the Beaufort County School District since 2011. Over the years, he has served in multiple roles including 1st and 2nd grade teacher, math interventionist (1st-5th), Assistant Principal, and Principal. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Carolina Beaufort and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina.
As Principal, Mr. Vaughn is committed to eliminating barriers for students, families, and educators to ensure that every student receives the highest quality education possible. His leadership is grounded in building meaningful relationships and fostering a supportive school community. He was honored as Teacher of the Year in 2014, highlighting his passion and dedication to student success.
A proud native of South Carolina’s Lowcountry, Mr. Vaughn enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children. He is also a big fan of all things Disney, bringing a spirit of joy and enthusiasm to his work at Red Cedar. His greatest joy comes from connecting with students, families, and staff to create a welcoming and nurturing environment for all.
Kelly Wersler, Assistant Principal

Ms. Wersler is a dedicated educational leader with 22 years of experience in education and a deep commitment to serving students, teachers, and families. Born and raised in the South Carolina Lowcountry, she is passionate about giving back to the community that helped shape her.
As an assistant principal, Ms. Wersler believes that strong relationships, collaborative leadership, and intentional systems are the foundation of student success.
Ms. Wersler is the proud mother of two children who both attend Beaufort County School District schools, giving her the unique perspective of serving her community as both an educator and a parent. She values building trust with families and believes that strong partnerships between schools and the community create the best opportunities for students.
Outside of school, Ms. Wersler enjoys embracing the Lowcountry coastal lifestyle and spending time with her family. She is honored to serve the community she has always called home.
