Our multi-purpose media center is a hub of hands-on discoveries, collaboration, and a place where students can make things from high-tech to no-tech and everywhere in-between.  We also have an extensive book and e-book collection for our Foxes big and small.  

We strive to provide the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library media program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and the school district, and is an integral component of the learning and instructional program.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Implement a full library media program, working cooperatively with principals, faculty, and community to create and maintain a positive, stimulating environment for students and staff that promotes a culture of learning.
  • Coach and mentor teachers in and model engagement of students in local and global interdisciplinary units in which students use technology to research real-world problems, collaborate with others and produce products that are meaningful and useful to a wide audience.
  • Coach teachers in and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences emphasizing creativity, high-order thinking skills, and processes, and mental habitats of the mind.
  • Provide leadership and instructional resources that integrate technology competently and consistently serving as an integral part of the student-centered education process.
  • Plans collaboratively with staff to support the incorporation of the South Carolina state standards in 21st Century skills and technology competencies.
  • Teach staff and students to select, evaluate, synthesize, making inferences and analyze information as they interact on the web.
  • Teach staff and students to develop digital skills that will allow them to appropriate and derive benefits from the use of technology.
  • Work closely with individual teachers that may be hesitant to incorporate 21st Century skills to design authentic learning tasks and assessments and integrating technology information to communicate student abilities required to meet content standards.
  • Provide coaching to staff to demystify and build an understanding of 21st-century skills. 
  • Work closely with related and performing arts teams to provide content for programs and instruction as well as a media outlet to the community.
  • Participates as a curricular leader on the schools instructional team, facilitating school-based conversations around student achievement data for the purposes of instructional improvement.
  • Introduction of technology that incorporates literature, themes, and activities that go beyond the pages for the early childhood classes.
  • Constantly researches and maintains current knowledge of media resources, curricular requirements, and computer and digital technology integration techniques and disseminates to instructional staff.
  • Maintain the school website as well as assist staff in creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting class websites.
  • Advocates for the library media program in support of the school improvement plan and provides the knowledge, vision, and leadership to steer it creatively and energetically in the 21st Century skills and technology competencies.
  • Promotes Beaufort County’s Connect to Learn technology initiatives by providing print and digital resources that will expand and enhance student learning beyond the textbook.
  • Communicate and inform staff and students on the Beaufort County School Districts acceptable use policies for technology to protect the district, its users, its data, and its systems.

  • Develops policies, practices, and curricula that guide students in developing the full range of information and communication abilities.
  • Research, review and evaluate, and recommend the purchase of media materials and equipment in accordance with Beaufort County School District technology initiative, cultural priorities and the needs of the school.
  • Assesses malfunctions of computer and iPad hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations.

  • Understands and uses technology for library administration and uses technology in all phases of library management.
