CLUBS & ACTITIVIES

Art Club
Art club is offered for 3rd-5th grade students on Wednesday afternoons. Students are given the opportunity to express their passion for art outside the regular art classroom. 


Drawing Club

Drawing club is offered for 4th and 5th grade students on Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school. Students are taught the basic skills of drawing portraits, forms, and shading. These skills are built upon gradually and are an advanced preparation for any art classes they may take in middle school. 


Robotics Club
Robotics Club meets Wednesday afternoons from 2:45- 3:45. It is for students in grades 3rd-5th. In Robotics Club students learn to program robots to accomplish a variety of tasks. Robotics requires problem solving, persistence, and a variety of math skills. 


Red Cedar RAKtivists
The Red Cedar RAKtivists will work to make the world a better place by practicing Random Acts of Kindness. Our main focus will be on small acts of kindness that can be done on a daily basis. Occasionally, we will participate in a larger service project, which may require us to meet outside the regular meeting time. 


First Tee
The First Tee golf club is internationally respected youth organization that promotes life skills and leadership through the game of golf. It is open to students in grades 3rd-5th. Students are expected to carry out these life skills that they learn while playing the game of golf, at home and at school. We will meet Tuesday afternoons from 2:45-3:45. 


Drum and Dance 
Drum and Dance, led by Dr. Corley, Ms. Smith and Ms. Shannon with the help of an occasional staff member who plays along, is open to all third, fourth, and fifth graders. We meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:15-7:40. The students play full size snare drums, toms, trios, bass drums, and cymbals. We march in the Bluffton High School Homecoming Parade sometimes and the Bluffton Christmas Parade. We also play for programs and other events. When we come to attention, the team is asked, “Can we do this?” their reply is, “We can do anything!” 

RCES Craft Club
Craft Club is open to 3rd- 5th graders. We meet each Thursday after school until 3:45. Our hope is to generate creative and innovative thinking! We design and create the decorations for our school’s annual Family Luncheon. Our crafters also make many crafts using recycled materials and learn how to sew by hand. We implement many other different techniques like painting, gluing, and origami. They get to leave with projects that they made themselves and a new way of looking at the things around us. 

Dance Ensemble I 
Dance Ensemble I is open to students in grades second and third. We will study various genres of dance including modern, hip hop and tap. We will meet Mondays after school until 3:45. Dancers will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Dancers will have two performances throughout the school year. 

Dance Ensemble II
Dance Ensemble II is open to students in grades fourth and fifth. We will study various genres of dance including modern, hip hop and tap. We will meet Tuesdays after school until 3:45. Dancers will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Dancers will have two performances throughout the school year and the chance to attend the Beaufort County Dance Festival. 

Planeteers
In this club, you will learn and experience various methods to help clean and protect our local environment. Planeteers will engage in hands-on environmental projects designed to encourage students to create environmental solutions in their homes, schools, and community. 

The Red Cedar Sports Club

 During this school year we will learn how to play multiple sports. Each month a different sport will be selected for us to learn how to play correctly and safely. Three weeks each month will consist of instruction based on the sport unit we are doing. The final week of each unit will consist of some fun and friendly competition. Students will be placed on teams for tournaments. This club for is having fun and learning how to play the sports that you guys love. Anyone willing to sacrifice a few extra minutes of sleep for some exercise and fun please come on by!

Foxes Jam 
We have a new after school opportunity to learn instrumental music that is being provided by the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra.  You can choose to play either the violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet, or trombone.  These lessons will take place after school in the music room from 3:00-3:45. Mondays and Wednesdays will be violin lessons and Tuesdays and Thursdays will be flute, clarinet, trumpet and trombone lessons.  This will be a part of the Foxes until 5:00 after school program starting this year. Lessons will be taught by Nathan Kooi, RCES’s new music teacher, a certified and experienced instrumental music teacher.
