Personal Message

This year marks my 29th as a teacher.  I am originally from Bristol, Virginia, and my first three years of teaching were as a 2nd grade teacher in Woodbridge, Virginia.  In 1992 my husband and I moved to Hilton Head Island, and I began work in the Beaufort County School District.  I taught grades 1, 2, 2/3 multiage, and gifted/talented at Michael C. Riley  until 2008.  At that time, I took on the position of district gifted and talented coordinator for two years.  I left the district to return to the schools in 2010 and worked as a literacy coach at H. E. McCracken Middle School.  One year later I began working at Red Cedar Elementary.  I am happy to be a Red Cedar Fox!

I am married to my college sweetheart, and we have a son who is a senior at the University of South Carolina in Columbia this year.  We also have a black kelpie/lab mix rescue dog.

My hobbies and interests include music (especially U2), reading, playing games, riding roller coasters, and taking naps.  I am a big fan of all things Harry Potter, and of all Washington, D.C. sports teams!

I'm glad that I get to do the job I love with such great students!  I look forward to working with them and you!
